HISTORY
Local religious, business, and community leaders established Interfaith
Partnership of Metropolitan St. Louis in 1983. The organization was
incorporated in 1986. One key focus area of our founders was to eliminate
the duplication of social services in the St. Louis region by increasing
access and awareness of existing social services. The organization
was committed to an action-oriented approach, which brings together
people and resources needed to make a difference in critically significant
areas. The Partnership was successful in facilitating coalitions to
address hunger, health and youth development issues.
Today, our mission is to be a collaborative organization open to all
faith groups, congregations, religious and community-based organizations
in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. We strive to provide a timely
voice and visible presence of the religious community by bringing
together people of faith for dialogue, celebration, and increased
understanding. We strive to communicate to all members what is happening
in social ministry and to identify community needs and stimulate coordinated
responses.
